PHIL AN MALOYA embodies the transmission of a precious musical heritage: maloya, deeply rooted in Réunion Island’s culture. The Lélé tribe reveals a new generation that renews and preserves this tradition while asserting its own identity. The group comes from a lineage of passionate musicians, now led by Kézia Lambert, grandson of the emblematic singer Gramoune Lélé and son of Philéas Lambert Marie-Claude (Votia), making the project a true family legacy.
Immersed in maloya from an early age, Kézia Lambert quickly established himself as a talented songwriter and composer, notably through his work for his mother, including the song “Vezu et Vié Kaz.” Surrounded by his brothers, sisters, and cousins, he continues this musical journey, driven by a shared passion for promoting maloya.
The group does not simply preserve tradition; it brings new energy by blending heritage with modern influences and exploring new sounds while honoring the memory of their ancestors. Through PHIL AN MALOYA, a new generation proudly carries the spirit of Réunion’s maloya, rooted in tradition and looking toward the future.
