Sana Maloya is a Réunionese artist deeply rooted in the maloya tradition, a legacy passed down from her grandfather, Mr. Chanat Joseph, and from Tantine Rachel, key figures of the kabars lontan. Guided by memory and transmission, she embraces maloya as both a calling and an inner necessity.
A charismatic singer with a powerful voice, she delivers an engaged form of maloya addressing social injustice, identity, mothers’ suffering, and the fight against violence and exclusion. Her words are direct and sincere, true to her motto: “Truth has only one color.”
Founded in July 2024 during a rond maloya gathering, the Sana Maloya group brings together a committed artistic family, including her son Enzo Hoareau. With powerful songs such as Bonbon d’ker, Somin Farfouiller, and Zenfant Vasaha, the group continues its rise, crowned by the December 20th Prize in 2025.
