Singing to empower African women and to reveal Congo’s cultural heritage to the world: this is the mission that drives Les Mamans du Congo & Rrobin. A unique and innovative encounter between Congolese Bantu lullabies and afro-house productions, Les Mamans du Congo & Rrobin offer an invitation to both travel and reflection, bridging Brazzaville and mainland France.
On stage, Gladys Samba raises her voice and commits herself to her sisters, addressing social issues ranging from infertility to witchcraft, as well as unemployment. She firmly defends the work of women — and men — as a powerful vector of emancipation. On stage, DIY percussion made from kitchen utensils, water baskets and pestles are transformed into rhythmic instruments, serving a vibrant, colorful performance that leaves audiences deeply moved.
Their self-titled debut album was acclaimed by the international press (FIP, Radio Nova, France Inter, RFI, Le Monde) and warmly received by the public, with over 3 million streams. Following the release of the Kikento EP in March 2023, Les Mamans du Congo & Rrobin released their second album, Ya Mizolé, on October 13, 2023.
