MICHOU

Michou, born Marie-Christiane Denise Ducap on August 9, 1960, in Saint-Denis, is a singer from Réunion Island.
She is the daughter of composer and musician Narmine Ducap, who discovered her musical talent at an early age and wrote her first song, Viens dors dans mon dos, in 1971 — the same year she recorded her first sega tracks. At just twelve years old, she achieved her first major hit with Crazé salle verte, quickly earning the nickname “the little sweetheart of Réunion.”
In 1974, she released Bouscule pas, a song later covered in 1982 by Carlos under the title Mario mon coco.
As her father prioritized education over music, Michou waited until the age of fifteen before performing on stage. After releasing numerous 45 rpm records, she had a decisive encounter with the musicians of Caméléon — including Alain Peters, René Lacaille and Loy Ehrlich — who arranged her 1978 LP Tombé levé, one of the best-selling releases of the Royal label.
In the early 1980s, she performed in Mauritius, notably at the Théâtre de Port-Louis, as well as at the Bataclan in Paris.
In 1984, she joined the group Calypso, where she met her partner, guitarist Marcel Albac. After a break in the 1990s, Michou released a new album in 1996 and, in 1998, took part in the show Cocktail séga at the Olympia in Paris.
