Soa Meva is a bold and decidedly female project, born from the meeting of Fara Gasy, a Malagasy musician, and Eat My Butterfly, a multi-instrumentalist from Réunion. The duo blends Malagasy and Réunionese traditions with electronic sounds, combining percussion, voice, and acoustic instruments with modern textures.
Through their hybrid music, they explore new sonic territories and provide a platform for women musicians to express themselves freely. Fara Gasy composes and plays the djembe and steeldrum, while Eat My Butterfly shapes rich soundscapes with drums, percussion, and synthesizers.
After several creative residencies, Soa Meva is preparing the release of their first album in 2027, embodying a mix of stage energy and sonic exploration, bridging the ancestral and the contemporary, and affirming a boundary-crossing music where the power of the feminine resonates fully.
