At a time marked by identity withdrawal, YEKO’s cultural fusions between North and South emerge organically. Born from a travel-diary album created in West Africa by Breton guitarist Yohann Le Ferrand, YEKO was propelled onto the ARTE Concerts stage for their very first live performance. The encounter with Malian singer Socha crystallized the live formula.
From the streets of Timbuktu rises a melodic breeze; sand-saturated riffs cross the ocean to intertwine with funky Afro-American rhythms, like a vibrant tribute to the Kamelengoni of Wassulu’s grandparents. From this whirlwind, Breton guitar strings resonate and awaken the soul of Bobo-Dioulasso, whose heart beats through its balafon. The singer’s solar energy elevates a universal bal poussière.
The album Miwé (2026) marks a new chapter: the energy of the live show is captured in the studio for the first time, blending organic afropop, radiant vocals, African roots, and Afro-American grooves into an afropop performance where roots vibrate in the present.
