Yugen Blakrok, from Queenstown, South Africa, is a distinctive voice in alternative hip-hop, blending science fiction, mythology, and political awareness. With critically acclaimed albums like Return of the Astro-Goth (2013) and Anima Mysterium (2019), collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, and tracks for Cyberpunk 2077 and Volkswagen, she has built an international reputation. Her third album, The Illusion of Being (2025), explores a sonic universe between the mystical and the mechanical.
