Dear Ribane is a Johannesburg-based art, design and music powerhouse, with a live show that is as unforgettable as it is ingenious. What makes this Afrofuturist collective standout is the visible chemistry that flows between the siblings who comprise Dear Ribane. First heard on multiple collaborations with producer OKZharp (including the Beats 1 playlisted Dear Ribane), Manthe’s distinctive vocals combine with Kay Kay and Tebogo’s hypnotic choreography that draws as much on a series of robotic, Staccato-like moves as the Pantsula dances of the Ribane sibling’s township roots. Indeed, it was a performance at Soweto’s FNB Stadium for Nelson Mandela’s birthday celebration that Manthe, Kay Kay and Tebogo made their first public performance, at the encouragement of their supportive parents. Since then, the siblings have honed a distinctive aesthetic that comes together in hypnotic style with the Dear Ribane collective
