Gaël Faye is a rare writer-author on the contemporary French rap scene. Initially discovered while playing with the group Milk Coffee & Sugar, he left his mark with Pili pili sur un croissant au beurre, a splendid debut solo album where he talked about his exile from his country with modesty and poetry. His painful experience witnessing the genocide in Rwanda also forms the base of his novel Petit Pays, one of 2016’s big literary successes and finalist in the prestigious French Goncourt Prize for Literature. Returning to musical matters, last year Gaël Faye released the EP Rythmes et Botanique. He will perform on stage with his partners Guillaume Poncelet et Blanka (La Fine Équipe) for one of the this year’s most eagerly awaited concerts.
