This quintet continues to spread the good word of its feminine maloya on Pou d’Vré (‘For Real’) the third album of their twenty year career. In it, the five women tell a more intimate story, sharing their desire to rise above physical appearances and preconceived ideas in order to understand others ‘pou d’vré’. Entirely written by the leader of the group Katy Toave, the texts embrace diverse and contrasting themes such as child abuse, terrorism, adoption or the sheer pleasure of being alive. Honed on stages in India and Zanzibar, their show combines still-solid rhythms and an irresistibly contagious energy. Come and let loose!
