PAT’JAUNE

Reunion Island
Creole fusion

The group develops music originating from the high plateaus of the island of Réunion in the Indian Ocean. Hailing from the Plaine des Cafres, they represent the local musical culture of the inhabitants of this region called the Yabs, their name “Pat’Jaune” derived from the turmeric planters.
Self-taught and dedicated musicians, they compose songs in a popular Creole style accompanied by guitars, violin, mandolin, double bass, and percussion.
The Pat’Jaune group revitalizes an almost forgotten culture blending African and European music, the Yab culture born from the mix of these different ethnicities just after the great exodus of the last century.
