Hypnotic guitar loops, jerky percussions, low whirring bass and songs with a punk attitude: the joyful tracks of duo Tshegue (riffraff in Lingala) are awe-inspiring. The pair, singer Faty Sy Savanet from Kinshasa and Dakou from France, have a gift for combining dance floor science with wild musicality. Their first EP Survivor mixes addictive afro-garage litanies with the mastery of old veterans. Up till now the double act has been performing at alternative festivals (We Love Green, AfroPunk, Transmusicales), and never failing to win the praise of an entranced public. A blazing set in view!
