Coming from an illustrious dynasty of maloya artists, Marie-Claude Lambert has been backing singer for her father, the emblematic Gramoun Lélé, for a long time. With the Philéas, maloya is a family affair, they created multiple projects to pass on the musical heritage of their forefather : Groove Lélé, Urbain Philéas and now Votia, named in homage to Marie-Claude’s mother, originally from Madagascar. The tribe from St Benoit, Réunion, present a maloya with hints of shimmering African influences carried by the powerful voice of the youngest Philéas daughter. Their 2016 album Ansoumak was a total success, but it is live on stage where Votia’s music takes on a whole new dimension. facebook.com/groupevotia
